Walking the Tightrope? | Coach Dave Live | November 25, 2019
One of the Huddle’s members experienced the death of his mother recently. Coach reminded viewers that it is important to “Honor your father and mother.â€
Robert Klous shared his devotional for today. It is from his book “Finders, Keepers: Finders of Truth Keepers of Faithâ€
What gets thrown into the lake of fire … the sin or the sinner? Where is “love the sinner and hate the sin†in the Bible.
“Do your works cover your wickedness?â€Â asked Coach Dave Daubenmire as he read from Psalm 5. He continued from Psalm 5, “Thou hatest all workers of iniquity … the Lord shall destroy them who love lies.â€
Does the fact that God sent His Son into the world mean that God now loves everyone in the world. If we get this wrong we get a false sense of security.
We tell the people they can walk a tightrope without worrying about falling. We don’t have a healthy fear of the Lord. Why would we want a tightrope in the first place? We should want to live in the shadow of the almighty.
God doesn’t love everybody. His love is available to everybody. It is proper to have a general concern for everyone. That is not love.
A man in the Huddle observed, “God judges, hates and abhors his inheritance. He is a judge. He is holy.â€
Verse 7 of Psalm 5 “In thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.â€
Coach said, “This is unbelievably crucial.â€Â Does the Lord hear prayers for people who are living in open sin?
“If God loves everyone why is there a need for the cross?â€Â Coach asked. Christianity is an exclusive club. Narrow is the path, broad is the way.
Coach asked, “Can you remember anyone ever coming to you and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with you?â€Â Coach had one, and his wife remembered nobody. Only a couple spoke up saying it had happened to them.
“Not a one.†Said a few in the Huddle.
Coach testified, “It was the fear of God that led me to Jesus Christ.â€
Most evangelism is done one on one. It is personal. Most people who go on foreign mission trips don’t even do it at home. Coach talked about Acts 1:8. We do that because we are anonymous when we do it in a foreign country. Also, when we do it at home we are held up to Christian principles in our community.
Speak truth right where you are. Abortion is murder right where you are … not just in Washington DC.
Jerusalem, Judea … and then the uttermost parts. Witness in Jerusalem and Judea first!
The best way to share the gospel is to share your own testimony. It is also important to ask questions. “Have you ever wondered what happens to us when we die?â€
“There are techniques for sharing the gospel, but it is more important to know the gospel.â€Â A Huddler commented.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Sharing the truth is the Love of Jesus.
